Bible Bowl

Why Bible Bowl?

Bible Bowl is a fun way to change your family's life. We know that in 120 days your child will have learned more about the Bible than most of us have learned in our lifetime. We teach the Scriptures through this fun game and we know that anyone who participates will come away with a new love for learning God's Word. We invite parents to volunteer and learn along with their children. We promise an intense study that will be incredibly fun!

Who is Bible Bowl?

Bible Bowl consists of dedicated 3rd through 12th graders and many volunteers. The National Bible Bowl Office and Board of Directors located in Cincinnati, Ohio, publish all materials and rules. Bible Bowl at First Christian is directed entirely by volunteers. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in our ministry. A ratio of one volunteer to every 4 students is needed to run this program with excellence. Please read the Volunteer Opportunities Sheet for areas to serve. Coaches are our greatest need.

What is Bible Bowl?

Students study the text and the questions provided then compete monthly. Practices are filled with many different teaching styles in order to help all types of learning styles including games like Bible Bowl Catchphrase, Family Fun Feud, and other crazy and fun games. Competitions are similar to a game of Quick Recall (sort of like Jeopardy).

For Beginner Bible Bowl (3-5th grade) have general questions which cover the entire Bible while the other half are selected from a book or books of the Bible. For Teen Bowl (6-12th grade) the questions are all from a selected book or books of the Bible.

The game consists of two teams (three to four players each) being quizzed over the preset questions. The quizmaster (think Alex Trebek) reads the questions and points are awarded to the team who buzzes first with the correct answer. Also, taking part in the game are a timekeeper, buzzer board operator, and scorekeepers for each team. (Unlike Jeopardy, this game is very fast paced. players can go through 50-100 questions in less than 10 minutes...this is including “Alex” reading the questions)

In order to reap the benefits of Bible Bowl, Beginner players will need to commit at least 15 minutes a day to study, while Teens will need to commit to 30. Players must study at home before coming to practice. This is an awesome program if you commit yourself to learning God's Word.
